Keon Sabb was born and raised in Glassboro, New Jersey. He initially attended Glassboro High School before transferring to nearby Williamstown High School for his junior year then finishing at IMG Academy for his senior season. Sabb played both sides of the ball well and in his sophomore season he collected 31 tackles and five interceptions on defense and hauled in 29 receptions for 376 yards and six touchdowns.
Coming out of high school, Sabb was rated a four-star recruit and had several Division 1 offers. He decided to commit to play for Clemson, but eventually flipped his commitment to play for the Michigan Wolverines.
In 2022, Sabb appeared in four games but did not record any statistics. As a sophomore in 2023, Sabb started five games for the Wolverines and recorded 28 tackles, a shared sack and two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
After the 2023 season, Sabb decided to enter the transfer portal and elected to play for the University of Alabama.
Strengths
Keon Sabb has an excellent feel for routes and identifies plays quickly, allowing him to be in the best position to make a play. He has shown the ability to make plays on the ball and is athletic enough to get the most out of every play.
Sabb is aggressive against the run and plays a very strong straight-line game. He demonstrates strong tackling mechanics and wraps up his target well. His speed allows him to range across the field, as he makes plays sideline-to-sideline. He has a combination of size and athleticism that will allow him to cover tight ends or slot receivers.
Between Michigan and Alabama, Sabb has been lined up in different spots, demonstrating versatility to scouts.
Weaknesses
Sabb is not slow by any means, but he lacks the recovery speed to make up for any missteps, and he will have his issues against some of the faster NFL receivers. Sabb is not as comfortable in zone coverage and sometimes loses his depth, allowing receivers to find open windows.
He is aggressive in the run game, but at times takes horrendous angles and loses pursuit of ball carriers.
Conclusion
Keon Sabb should hear his name called in the mid-rounds of the 2026 draft. He compares well to NFL veteran Kerby Joseph. Joseph was a third-round pick in 2022 out of Illinois and although Sabb is technically a better tackler, both have the knack for being in the right spot at the right time.
Joseph has already picked off 11 passes in his tenure with the Detroit Lions, and Draft Nation believes that Sabb will have his share of picks at the next level.
