Boise State offensive tackle Kage Casey has emerged as one of the most dependable and technically polished offensive linemen in the 2026 NFL Draft class, earning first-team All-Mountain West honors in back-to-back seasons (2024 & 2025) as well as recognition as a second-team All-Mountain West performer earlier in his career. His acclaim at left tackle reflects not just consistency in performance, but also the foundational role he has played in an offense that has ranked among the nation’s best in rushing and scoring efficiency.

A 6-foot-5, 311-pound lineman out of Clackamas High School in Happy Valley, Oregon, Casey was a three-star recruit who opted to stay in the Pacific Northwest by signing with Boise State in 2022. After a redshirt year and limited action as a freshman, he seized the starting left tackle job in 2023 and has started every game since, totaling over 38 consecutive starts entering the postseason. His durability and consistency have been hallmarks of his collegiate career.

Casey’s production has been impressive both in pass protection and run blocking. In 2024, he played a team-high 947 offensive snaps, posting elite grades from analytics services and regularly receiving top marks as Boise State’s best pass blocker in multiple games. Notably, he did not allow a sack in 440 opportunities, anchoring an offensive line that allowed only 1.07 sacks per game.

Beyond his statistical resume, what stands out about Casey is his technical polish. He operates from a balanced base with excellent hand placement and strong play strength, traits that allow him to neutralize defenders’ advantages and sustain blocks in both the run and passing games. His consistency and high football IQ translate into reliable performance against a variety of defensive looks and stunts, with few lapses in technique even under pressure.

While Casey’s 2025 season has included continued excellence, he opted out of Boise State’s bowl game to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft,a choice that has become increasingly common among top prospects prioritizing long-term health and pre-draft preparation.

Strengths

Technical Consistency

Casey’s base, hand placement, and footwork allow him to sustain blocks and control defenders through contact.

Durability & Availability

He has started every contest since seizing the left tackle role and logged significant snap counts without major injury.

Balanced Blocking Profile

His play strength and leverage show in both pass protection and run schemes, with elite run-blocking production at Boise State.

Football IQ

Casey demonstrates a strong understanding of defensive fronts, blitz pickups, and makes mid-play adjustments regularly.

Weaknesses

Athletic Ceiling

While technically sound, Casey lacks the elite twitch or sudden burst seen in some top tackle prospects. That will impact his draft slot but won’t discourage teams from adding him to their wish lists later in the process.

Interior Projection Questions

Some evaluators wonder whether his athletic traits might project him more effectively inside at guard at the next level. He’s short for left tackle in the NFL and he has shorter arms, making him a bit of an ideal candidate to play on the interior of the line.

Explosiveness vs. Speed Rushers

He can struggle at times with ultra-quick edge rushers who threaten the edge before hands can be established.

Conclusion

Kage Casey’s body of work at Boise State has solidified him as one of the most polished offensive line prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. His multiple All-Mountain West honors, durability, and technical foundation make him an attractive tackle option for NFL teams seeking immediate stability on the blind side.

Draft Nation currently views Casey as a Day 3 selection, with the potential to climb higher should he impress in pre-draft testing and postseason evaluations. With his blend of consistency, experience, and upside, Casey projects as a starter or a key rotational player/swing lineman in his NFL career, with a chance to kick inside to guard due to physical traits.
