Earnest Greene III attended high school at St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California. During Greene's high school career, he was a four-year starter and also participated in the High School All-American Bowl. Coming out of high school, Greene was rated as a four-star recruit, the number 40 prospect, and the number two interior offensive lineman in his class. He held offers from schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Ohio State, ultimately deciding to commit to Georgia.

In Greene's freshman season in 2022, he did not play due to lingering injuries and back surgery. During the 2023 season, Greene earned the Bulldogs’ starting spot at left tackle, where he played in and started all 14 games. For his performance in the 2023 season, Greene was named Freshman All-SEC.

2024 was Greene’s breakout year, and he flashed his NFL talent for scouts. 2025 will be his final year in Athens, and Greene looks to make waves in the SEC and Georgia once again competes for a national championship.

Strengths

  • Athleticism
  • Physicality
  • Lateral Movement
  • Run Blocking
  • Anchoring

Earnest Greene, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive tackle, has the athleticism and length to be a solid starting tackle in the NFL. In the run game, Greene is very physical and loves to hit and drive opponents back. As long as the play is live, Greene will move around and hit opponents. He's able to get out in front of blocks and has smooth lateral movement to allow him to slide from side to side in the run game.

In the passing game, Greene anchors against power rushers well, withstanding their contact with a strong initial punch that slows down defenders. And he comes from a Georgia program that has a recent track record of sending offensive tackles to the NFL.

Weaknesses

  • Hands
  • Balance
  • Pass Blocking
  • Kick Slide

On the downside, Greene’s play suffers from a lack of balance. He does not have issues with landing his first punch when striking, but needs to use the 2025 season to improve his hand placement techniques. At times, Greene can be stiff and overreach, and he will need to improve his kick slide when dropping back into pro coverage, or else he will have problems with the faster edge rushers. When dropping back, he is not as fluid as scouts would like to see, and this needs to be fixed before he becomes a pro.

Conclusion

Earnest Greene III is another Georgia offensive tackle who will make his mark in the NFL. He is a developmental tackle and a sure-fire second-day pick that reminds Draft Nation of former Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison. Harrison was a first-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023 and is known for his physical ability in the ground game and struggles on the passing side.

Greene’s choice to play an extra year in college will benefit him and potentially move draft boards like Harrison did.
