Miller Moss attended Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, Los Angeles. In high school, Moss continually got better from season to season. In his senior year, he made the 2020 PrepStar Dream Team and the Southern California News Group Fab 15 first team. Moss was a four-star recruit who committed to playing close to home at USC.
Moss played in two games during his freshman season and completed 8-of-13 passes for 74 yards with a 16-yard touchdown against California. He wound up redshirting for the season. In 2022, Moss saw action in five games as the backup to Caleb Williams. He went 12-of-14 for 159 yards and one touchdown. In 2023, Moss played in four games as a backup and then made his first start in the 2023 Holiday Bowl when Caleb Williams sat out. In the bowl game, he led the Trojans to a 42-28 win and was named offensive MVP after throwing a Holiday Bowl record six touchdowns.
After the season, Moss entered the transfer portal and transferred to the University of Louisville.
Strengths
Miller Moss has a quick release that he uses to get the ball out in a timely fashion. He has a strong pocket presence and will stand in against the rush and take a hit to make a play.
Moss has an accurate and strong enough arm to play in the pros. He is a rhythmic quarterback with a high football IQ who will test well in scout and coaching meetings. He has some of the better throwing mechanics in this class, and does a great job in play-action passing, which will translate well to the pros.
Weaknesses
Moss is a smaller-framed quarterback, and his 6-foot-2 frame appears smaller due to his lack of muscle and weight. He will need to get stronger to be successful in the NFL. Moss is not a quarterback who will make a lot of plays outside of structure. He is a timing passer who has tunnel vision when it comes to making plays. He will struggle once blocking breaks down, and he has to move. He won't chew up yards running the ball, and needs to show the ability to throw the ball while on the run.
Conclusion
Miller Moss is still a question mark when it comes to the overall package due to his lack of starting experience. He’s likely a late-day-three pick who will compete for a backup spot at the next level.
While he’s done well this season at Louisville, Moss will need to prove himself in postseason games at the Senior Bowl or Shrine Bowl to turn heads. He’s got the chops to make the league, but can use his time pre-combine to improve his draft stock.
