Ar'maj Reed-Adams was born in Dallas, Texas, and attended DeSoto High School, where he played football and competed in shot put and discus for the track & field team. He was labeled a three-star recruit by Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN and committed to play football at the University of Kansas.
Reed-Adams appeared in 31 games, including 15 starts in two seasons at Kansas. After his sophomore season, Reed-Adams entered the transfer portal and transferred to Texas A&M for the 2024 season. Since then, Reed-Adams has bloomed. He’s been a star guard and a utility lineman, playing all across the line for the Aggies.
The 2025 campaign will determine how high Reed-Adams goes in the draft. Still, his positional flexibility and continued improvement will undoubtedly capture the interest of scouts and coaches at the NFL Combine in February.
Strengths
Reed-Adams has played both guard positions and has filled in at times at tackle, so he will offer versatility to an NFL team. He is an excellent run blocker who hits and drives opponents backwards when he gets his original punch into their chest.
The Aggie lineman is always moving his feet, and his work ethic has been lauded by several coaches. He has strong hands and is tough to beat one-on-one. He sets up well in pass protection and can anchor down against pass rushers quickly.
Weaknesses
On the downside, Reed-Adams can play impatiently and will lunge at defenders and lose his power and ability to gain leverage. When he plays with an unstable base, it affects his balance and his ability to slide from side to side fluidly. Reed-Adams has strong hands but needs to do a better job of landing them in the right area. This could be a product of his lunging habits as well.
Although he's “pro strong,” he will need to work on his mechanics and his footwork to improve his ability to move laterally and become more of a force on the second level.
Conclusion
Ar'maj Reed-Adams is a solid run blocking guard who can have a successful career, especially if he works on his techniques and footwork. The versatility should help him become an early day three draft pick.
A good pro comparison to Ar'maj Reed-Adams is New England Patriots guard Layden Robinson. Robinson was a fourth-round pick out of Texas A&M. Both players have versatility and a strong work ethic. It may take a bit longer for Reed-Adams to become a starter, but he should have success in the NFL.
