Name- Roman Wilson

Height- 6’0”
Weight- 192 lbs
Team- Michigan
Drafted- 3rd round (84th overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected wide receiver Roman Wilson out of Michigan in the 3rd round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Wilson was a 4-star prospect coming out of Saint Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Nike’s the Opening Regional Camp in 2019, where he won the “fastest man race”, clocking in at 4.37 in the 40.
At Michigan, Wilson played his first three seasons under the radar, only putting up marginal stats in limited time. However, in 2023, Wilson broke out and was a consistent playmaker for the Wolverines. He hauled in 48 catches for 789 yards and led Michigan with 12 receiving touchdowns.
Wilson impressed NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl and made several highlight catches against future first rounder Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo and at the combine in Indianapolis, Wilson ran an impressive 4.39 in the 40 and a 1.52 in the 10-yard split.
Roman Wilson will help fill the void at slot receiver for the Steelers after the team traded veteran Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason. He has the top end speed to stretch the field and has the run routing ability to be an instant target on quick slants and zig-zag routes.
“The reason they took me is they expect me to come in and play and help this team win games,” Wilson said on the team’s website. “That is exactly what I am going to come in and do.”
Here is a look at Draft Nation’s scouting report on Roman Wilson
Strengths
Roman Wilson is an electric wide receiver with game breaking speed. He has an explosiveness that can beat zones right down the middle and is effective when used as a running back during jet sweeps. Once he hits the open field, he’s a tough player to coral. He has longer arms for a 6’0” wide receiver than expected and his frame can add muscle and weight without losing his speed. He has a quick slant ability with elite foot speed to make himself almost impossible to mirror. He can line up outside or in the slot and be effective in either case,
Weaknesses
On the downside, Wilson gets held up in press coverage and can spend too much time fighting to get off the line. Wilson is a work in progress with his run blocking, but has gotten better over the past couple of seasons.
