Charles Turner III spent his last 2 years of high school playing football at the IMG Academy, helping his team to a 16-1 mark in the 2 seasons. He was selected to take part in the 2019 All-American Bowl and was rated as the #6 center in the nation according to 247Sports. Turner was a consensus 3-star center who eventually committed to play football at LSU.
Turner saw action in 3 games as a true freshman, playing only 36 snaps and was eventually redshirted. In 2020, he appeared in 8 games at right tackle in a limited role. As a redshirt sophomore, he played in 4 games, starting 1 at right tackle. He served as the backup center and cross trained at all positions, filling in when needed. Turner broke through in 2022 as a starter on the offensive line. He started all 12 games at center for the Tigers and did not commit a penalty the last 10 games of the season. In 2023, Turner started all 13 games at center and only was responsible for 1 sack allowed and 3 penalties committed on the season.
