D.J. Uiagalelei had a very successful and decorated high school career. He was listed as the top player in the country by PrepStar and ranked 2nd best by Rivals. He passed for 10,496 yards and 127 touchdowns while only throwing 11 interceptions. Passing wasn’t the only thing Uiagalelei excelled at, he also ran for 1,103 yards and 18 touchdowns. After throwing for 4,225 yards and 48 touchdowns as a senior, he was named the National Offensive Player of the Year by the USA Today. He committed to Clemson over hundreds of other interested universities.
He started 2 games as a freshman, playing in 10 total for the Tigers and threw for 914 yards and 5 touchdowns, with 0 interceptions. In 2021, he started all 13 games and had his ups and downs, finishing the season with more interceptions (10), then touchdowns (9).
In 2022, Uiagalelei bounced back and seemed to find his groove as the season went on, passing for 2,521 yards and 22 touchdowns, while only throwing 7 interceptions. He also added 545 yards on the ground while scoring 7 touchdowns. However, Head Coach Dabo Sweeney tabbed freshman Cade Klubnik as the starting quarterback for the ACC Championship game and soon after, Uiagalelei announced he was entering the transfer portal, opting to join Oregon State.
For 2023, Uiagalelei threw for 2,638 yards with 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions with the Beavers. After the season he once again entered the transfer portal and selected Florida State as his new home.
