Joshua Gray played his high school football at Rancho Cucamonga High School where he was a two year starter. Gray earned First-Team All-League and First-Team All-CIF selections in his senior season while leading the team to a 10-2 record and a No. 16 ranking in the state of California. Over his high school career, he earned three-star recruiting ratings from Rivals.com and 247Sports, and a four-star rating from ESPN. He chose Oregon State over offers from other power five schools such as Arizona State, Nebraska, Washington State, and more.
In his first year with the program in 2019, Gray played in just one game and redshirted. However, as a redshirt freshman in 2020, he started all seven games for the Beavers and was named All Pac-12 Second Team. In that shortened season, he was part of an offensive line that helped Jermar Jefferson to nearly 900 rushing yards and five 100-yard games. These impressive numbers kept Gray in that starting role for the 2021 season. He started all 13 games and was an All Pac-12 Honorable Mention. The Beavers’ offensive line helped B.J. Baylor to a Pac-12 best 1,337 rushing yards, while also allowing the fewest sacks in the Pac-12 at 14.
In 2022, Gray once again started all 13 games for the Beavers and was again named to the All Pac-12 Second Team. His continued individual success and the success of the offense as a whole helped him gain recognition as one of the best linemen in the Pac-12, and gained him the attention of the NFL world as a draft prospect. Gray returned to Oregon State this season and has started every game so far.
Gray started 11 games for the Beavers until a foot injury sidelined him for the rest of the season in 2023. Gray decided to return to Oregon State for a sixth season.
