Kalen DeLoach is a versatile linebacker from Savannah, GA where he played his high school football at Islands High School. In his senior season, he registered 156 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss with 7.0 sacks and two interceptions and was named Butkus Award finalist for best high school linebacker in America. DeLoach was graded as a 4-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals.com, and 247Sports. He ranked as the No. 14 outside linebacker nationally and 28th prospect out of Georgia according to 247 Composite and was prospect number 198 on the ESPN 300 list. He had offers from Auburn and Michigan as well as several others. He decided to attend Florida State where he is now in his 5th year with the Seminoles.
Over his first two seasons at Florida State, DeLoach appeared in 17 games and made 10 tackles in his limited playing time. His breakout year came in his junior year in 2021 where he appeared in all 12 games, starting in 11 of them. He tallied 69 tackles including 6.5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 interception and 2 pass breakups. This breakout earned him FSU’s Defensive Most Improved Player Award and solidified him as a leader and reliable presence in the center of the FSU defense.
DeLoach had another good season in 2022, nearly matching the numbers from his junior season. He had 65 tackles with 7.5 TFL, 3 sacks and 7 pass breakups. He decided to return to FSU this season for his fifth year. In 2023, he collected 68tackles including 10.5 TFL, 7 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles and scoop n’ score against the Clemson Tigers. He is making a huge impact for the Seminole defense in every game and has grabbed the attention of the college football world.
