He played high school football for Miami Northwestern and the four-star prospect helped lead them to three straight state championships. He selected Miami over Alabama, Florida and Georgia amongst many other offers.
In his freshman season, he saw action in all 12 games, starting the final 5 games and finished 4th on the team in tackles with 44. Last season, Kinchens was named a first-team All-ACC and a first-team All-American after starting all 12 games and leading the Hurricanes in tackles with 59 and his 6 interceptions were tied for 2nd in the FBS. Entering the 2023 season, he was named a preseason 2nd team All-American by Draft 412.
In 2023, he started 10 games and tallied 59 tackles and 5 interceptions for the Hurricanes. His 11 interceptions over the past 2 seasons are very impressive and show his playmaking abilities.
Taylor Rapp, a 2nd round pick in 2019 out of Washington had a lot of the same qualities going into draft day. A hard hitter known for playmaking in the secondary, Kinchens will be a high draft pick.
