Kenny Logan Jr.

Kenny Logan Jr. attended Menendez High School in St. Augustine, Florida and was a talented 2-way player for the football team playing both running back and defensive back. His athleticism was showcased on the basketball court and the track & field teams as well. In Logan Jr.’s high school career, he rushed for 2,284 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also snared 63 receptions for 1,075 yards and 8 touchdowns. On defense, he notched 157 tackles, 8 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery. With many offers on the table, Logan Jr. committed to playing football at Kansas. As a true freshman, he saw action in all 12 of the Jayhawks' games and contributed 14 tackles on the defensive side of the ball in limited action. He also saw action as a punt and a kick returner on special teams as a true freshman. In 2020, he started 8 games at safety for Kansas and played in all 9 games. He was named All-Big 12 honorable mention as a kick returner. He had a very productive season in the secondary for Kansas, collecting 58 tackles, 1 sack and 2 interceptions. Logan Jr. had a huge season in 2021 for the Jayhawks, leading the Big 12 in tackles with 113, the most by a Kansas player since 2018. His 113 tackles were the most by a safety in the country and he had 5 games of at least 10 tackles. His big season landed him on the All-Big 12 second team and on the radar of NFL scouts. 2022 was another productive season for the Jayhawks safety. He started all 13 games and had 106 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions. He was named All-Big 12 honorable mention. He decided to come back for a 5th year in 2023 and did not do anything to hurt his draft stock. He started 13 games and had 95 tackles to give him 383 for his career. He also had 1 interception that he returned for a touchdown. Kenny Logan Jr. is a safety who excels at stopping the run. His speed in pursuit and strong hands make him a tackling machine. When a receiver makes a catch on him, he is a reliable tackler who does not give up a lot of yards after the catch. He has good length and opens up well to be able to run with receivers in route. In zone coverage, he does a good job of baiting passes and then closing fast on the ball. He has excellent ball skills and plays his position like a wide receiver once the ball is in the air. Logan Jr.’s instincts are top notch, and he reads and reacts well to plays and takes impressive angles in pursuit. However, Logan Jr. at times goes for the knockout hit and will miss a tackle or two. His aggressiveness can be overplayed, and he can bite on a play action or misdirection. He often sells out to make a stop in the run game and can leave coverage at the wrong times. He does a good job of competing and shedding blocks but will need to get stronger to have the same kind of success in the NFL. A good comparison to Kenny Logan Jr. is Talanoa Hufanga. Both are tackling machines who have to be accounted for at the line of scrimmage. Hufanga was a 5th round pick in 2021 out of USC and has become a huge part of the 49ers' secondary. Logan Jr. has the skillset to put up similar numbers to Hufanga.
