McCord is a 5-star recruit from St. Joseph’s Prep and helped lead St. Joseph’s Prep to its third consecutive state championship, setting city and league records for career passing yards (6,887) and touchdowns (88). He committed to Ohio State during his senior year.
During his freshman and sophomore seasons, McCord played only during clean up time while C.J. Stroud and the Ohio State offense did the heavy lifting. He had 58 attempts and threw three touchdown passes and two interceptions.
In 2023, McCord finished the season with 3,170 yards with 24 touchdown passes and only 6 interceptions. Despite, the good numbers on paper, fans were dissappointed his performance after another loss to the eventual champion Michigan Wolverines.
Heading into the 2024 season, McCord made the decision to transfer out of Ohio State, and will be the starting QB for Syracuse.
