During his freshman season at Jersey Village High School, he grew 9”, from 5’6” to 6’3”. Paul was rated a 3-star recruit and selected Houston over an offer from Tulsa. His brother Chris Paul was a 7th round pick of the Washington Commanders in 2022.
Patrick Paul started the final 3 games in 2019 at left tackle, and the first two games in 2020, before missing the remainder of the season with a foot/ankle injury.
In 2021, Paul was named First Team All-American Athletic Conference after starting all 14 games at left tackle. In 526 opportunities, he only gave up 3 sacks and helped pave the way for Houston to be No. 4 in the AAC in passing yards per game.
In 2022, Paul was named team captain and was once again named first team All-American Athletic Conference after starting all 13 games at left tackle for the Cougars. He was the nation's No. 2 graded pass blocker among tackles by PFF (91.1).
Paul started 12 games at left tackle for Houston and did not give up 1 sack during the season. He is one to watch closely at the combine.
