Andre Sam attended Iowa High School in Iowa, Louisiana. He played WR in high school and transitioned to DB heading into college. He was not very highly recruited out of high school and chose to join McNeese State.
He played just 3 games in his redshirt freshman season, making 6 tackles.
His second and third seasons at McNeese State were very similar as he made 51 tackles in 2019, and 52 tackles in 2020. His 2020 season was highlighted with 3 interceptions.
In 2021, he played and started in all 12 games, tallying 70 tackles with 1 interception and 8 pass breakups. Following that season, he transferred to Marshall for his fifth season.
At Marshall in 2022, Sam played 12 games with 10 starts, recording 53 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 7 pass breakups and 1 interception. He transferred once again following 2022, this time to LSU where he would play his final season of college football.
This year with LSU, Sam started all 13 games at safety, tallying 85 tackles which was good for third on the team. He added 3 interceptions as well for a career year with the Tigers heading into the draft.
