Silva attended Clark High School in Texas. He was a four-year letter winner and a unanimous first-team all-district as a junior and senior. He was ranked as the 12th best prospect in Texas, and chose to join TCU following his high school career.
As a freshman at TCU, Silva started 61 games, all at shortstop. He had an immediate impact, slashing .330/.416/.471 (average, on base %, slugging). His average was good for third on the team. He also hit 7 home runs and 11 doubles, and drove in 50 RBI. He was selected to the Big-12 All Freshman Team, and was named 2nd Team All-Big 12.
This year is Silva's sophomore season. He looks to match or improve his numbers from his impressive freshman campaign, and sneak his way into the first round of this year's draft.
