Dart attended Roy High School for his first three years of high school, before transferring to Corner Canyon High School.
As a senior, he was the Gatorade Football Player of the Year after he passed for 4,691 yards with a state record 67 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He also rushed for 1,185 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also the MaxPreps National Player of the Year. Overall during his career he had 10,688 passing yards and 117 touchdowns. Dart was also a two time all-state third baseman for the baseball team.
Dart committed to the University of Southern California over an offer from Arizona State University. During his freshman season at USC, Dart replaced injured quarterback Kedon Slovis during the second drive of the game and finished the game throwing for 391 yards and four touchdowns, with two interceptions. The 391 yards set a school record for passing yards in a debut. Dart finished the season throwing for 1,353 yards and nine touchdowns. After the season Dart would enter the transfer portal after Lincoln Riley was hired as head coach and Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams was set to follow him to USC. Dart enrolled at Ole Miss where he became the starting quarterback under Lane Kiffin.
During his sophomore season at Ole Miss, Dart led the team to a 7-5 record, throwing for 2,974 yards and 20 touchdowns. Though he struggled with interceptions throwing 11 picks.
In 2023, Dart improved across the board. He led the Rebels to an 11-2 record, while throwing for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns, while cutting his interceptions back to just five.
