King attended Athens Christian High School in Georgia. He was a utility prospect and showed a solid bat, earning himself First Team All-State honors. He chose to join Wingate after his high school career.
As a freshman at Wingate, King hit .381 with .640 slugging. He hit 4 home runs and led the team with 18 doubles. He drove in 44 RBI in his 39 games (35 starts).
As a sophomore, King played even better, batting .411 with .699 slugging, and finding his power stroke as his exit velocities jumped up, allowing him to hit 11 home runs, 20 doubles and drive in 53 RBI in 50 games.
Following his impressive sophomore campaign, King decided to transfer to Wake Forest for the 2024 season.
