I'm a big fan of the fantasy outlook in San Francisco heading into 2026.
San Francisco 49ers
ESPN FPI Ranking: 5
Brock Purdy has been as consistent as they come, and with Mac Jones back as the backup, there's at least some confidence that the offense won't completely fall apart if Purdy misses time. The biggest question, as always, is Christian McCaffrey.
I'm praying for CMC but coming off another 400+ touch season isn't for the faint of heart. I also hope the backs behind him can absorb more of the workload this year. I wouldn't bet a dollar on another overall RB1 finish, but I still think he's a locked-in top 10 back who's being drafted appropriately. In general, I'm much higher on the 49ers' running back room than the fantasy community seems to be.
The wide receiver room is where things get really interesting.
Mike Evans has been one of the most consistent wide receivers in NFL history. Ricky Pearsall has flashed plenty of upside, but hasn't consistently stayed on the field. Then there's rookie De'Zhaun Stribling, who surprised many when the 49ers selected him with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
I've been a Stribling believer since peak rookie draft season. I grabbed him at 2.11 back in April, and while his value has climbed into the middle of the second round, I still think that's a bargain. San Francisco also added Christian Kirk, although I'd be surprised if he has a major fantasy resurgence. Kirk finished as a top-15 receiver back in 2022 but hasn't posted a WR3 season or better since.
Tight end is another situation to monitor. George Kittle remains a difference-maker when healthy, but if he's my TE1, I'm doing whatever I can to roster Tonges as insurance. It's June, and coach speak is everywhere. We won't know where Kittle stands until he's on the field.
The biggest reason I'm optimistic is the coaching staff. Yes, the 49ers lost assistant coach Brian Fleury to Seattle, but Kyle Shanahan remains one of the league's premier offensive minds, and I expect this offense to be one of the NFL's most consistent once again.
I'll gladly draft Purdy in redraft leagues wherever the value makes sense. This has a chance to be San Francisco's best receiving corps since the prime Deebo Samuel–Brandon Aiyuk years. As long as mostly everyone stays healthy, and that's a big ask, the 49ers should once again be one of fantasy football's most reliable offenses.
