Collins attended Cedar Creek High School and had a decorated football career. He was an All-American, All-State, and was twice named the District’s Defensive Lineman of the Year. In his final 3 seasons at Cedar Creek, he accumulated 253 tackles, 74 tackles for loss and 18 sacks. He finished high school as a consensus top 100 player in the nation and a 5-star recruit by 247Sports. He selected Texas over a slew of other offers.
As a true freshman in 2020, Collins played in 10 games and started once. In his brief time, he collected 18 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He was the first Longhorn true freshman to record a sack in his first career start since Jackson Jeffcoat in 2010.
He saw his playing time start to expand in his sophomore year, playing in 12 games and starting 4 of those contests. He registered 25 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble. He was a second-team preseason All-Big 12 selection.
Last season, Collins took a slight step back on the depth chart and played in 12 games and only started 1 of those games. HIs numbers took a hit as well and he ended the season recording only 17 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack.
Entering the 2023 season, Collins was named to the preseason watch list for the Reese’s Senior Bowl. In 14 games this season, he has accrued 22 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks.
