Andru Phillips attended Mauldin High School in South Carolina where he earned a 3-star recruit rating from ESPN, rivals.com and 247 Sports. He had a good list of offers from several power 5 schools, and ultimately chose to join Kentucky. Phillips redshirted his freshman season recording only one tackle. His second season, he appeared in nine games, making 3 tackles. In his third year, Phillips played in 11 games, starting 4 of them. He recorded 31 tackles in his heightened snaps. This season, Phillips earned a starting role for the Wildcats, starting 12 games at corner. He totaled 48 tackles and 5 passes defended.
