Fabien Lovett is a big, powerful DT out of Vicksburg, MS. He played at Olive Branch High School where he notched 81 tackles with 25 TFL and 6.5 sacks as a senior. His high school performance earned him a 4-star recruiting rating by 247sports and 3-star ratings from ESPN, and Rivals.com.
Out of high school, Lovett enrolled at Mississippi State University. He redshirted and played his redshirt freshman year in 2019. He was a starter and played in all 13 games for the Bulldogs. He tallied 19 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 1 sack in his first year as a starter despite his limited snaps. After his redshirt freshman season, he transferred to Florida State University where he excelled and broke out, officially claiming the attention of scouts everywhere.
Lovett’s breakout season came in 2021 when he appeared in 11 games (9 as a starter) for the Seminoles. He was able to get 28 tackles and 2 sacks in this season and was fantastic in the run defense. He was expected to be even better in 2022 but suffered an injury which forced him to miss 5 games in the middle of the Seminoles’ season and put a damper on his NFL Draft hopes for last year. His effect on the running game was very apparent in these 5 games for the FSU defense as their rush yards given up per game jumped up in his absence. With his injury, Lovett decided to come back to Florida State for this season and his final year of eligibility. In 13 games he collected 22 tackles, 4 TFL, and 1 sack.
