Luke Lachey is a receiving-minded tight end out of Columbus, Ohio. He played his high school football at Grandview Heights High School where he had 57 receptions for 741 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior, along with 43 rushing attempts for 357 yards and three touchdowns. He earned first-team all-state, all-conference, and all-district honors and was also named to the all-metro team that year. He was also named second-team all-state as a junior. He earned a three-star rating from ESPN and Rivals.com, but had a four-star rating from 247sports. He turned down offers from LSU, Wisconsin, and Kentucky among others to play at Iowa.
In Lachey’s freshman year at Iowa, he played in just one game and redshirted. In his redshirt freshman season, he started three games and averaged 16.6 yards per catch. He played behind some very talented tight ends in these years at Iowa and was able to step into the starting role in 2022 as a redshirt sophomore.
In 2023, Lachey saw action in all 13 games, earning six starts at tight end. He caught 28 passes for 398 yards (14.2 yard avg.) and four touchdowns. This year in 2023, Lachey played in just 3 games and had 10 catches for 131 yards. He sustained an ankle injury in his third game which ended up requiring season-ending surgery. Lachey decided to return to Iowa for his senior season.
