Anderson attended Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia. He graduated in three years and was ranked the No. 1 catcher and No. 4 overall player in the state of Virginia according to Perfect Game. He chose to join Virginia following his high school career.
As a freshman, Anderson slashed .302/.403/.497 (average, on base %, slugging). He hit 5 home runs and 12 doubles, driving in 39 RBI in 50 games (41 starts).
In his sophomore season, Anderson started all 65 games at first base for the Cavaliers. He improved drastically, with a slash line of .375/.469/.649. He hit 15 home runs and 26 doubles and was responsible for 66 RBI. He was an All-ACC Third Team Selection at first base.
This season is Anderson's junior year. He looks to keep up the success at the plate from last year and climb draft boards.
