Khristian Boyd
Football - DT

University of Northern Iowa
School in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2022 Boyd was named second team all-conference (MVFC), but his true breakout season was in 2023 in terms of accolades. Last year, the defensive tackle was named first team All-Conference and third team All-American. The stat book didn’t match the disruption that Boyd provided for the Panthers defensive front this year, as he finished with only one sack in 2023. The question mark on Boyd is will
this lack of production change once the 24-year-old makes the transition to the NFL.
The two best parts of Boyd’s game are his first step and push-pull move that he uses to consistently get interior pressure. The Panther’s defensive tackle did a great job of taking on double teams and holding his ground with an impressive anchor and displayed flashes of above average stack and shed ability. His pass rushing repertoire includes several combinations, including an arm over, rip move, and two hand swipewith varying degrees of success against FCS competition.
However, Boyd’s lack of production at the FCS level will concern scouts. He tends to play with a high pad level, which landed him on the wrong side of a couple pancake blocks in the evaluated film. There were also several instances in which it was too easy for opposing guards and centers to seal Boyd off, where he was knocked off balance and twisted to the ground.Scouts will question his ability to redirect his body mass togain leverage. The super senior doesn’t have a developed pass rush plan at this point,
despite having an above average push-pull.
