Mason Taylor attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was rated as a four-star prospect as the No. 7 tight end in the nation. His father is Hall-of-Famer Jason Taylor and his uncle Zach Thomas is also in the Hall-of-Fame. Mason Taylor eventually committed to LSU over a host of other offers.
In his freshman year of 2022, Taylor played 14 games and caught 38 passes for 414 yards and three touchdowns. In 2023, he started all 12 games he appeared in for LSU. He was third on the team in receptions with 36 and totaled 348 yards and one touchdown. Taylor collected an impressive 222 yards after catch in 2023.
