Kling attended Central High School in Roaring Springs, PA. He posted a .566 batting average as a senior with five home runs and 33 RBI as he led Central High School to a 27-0 record and the state title in 2022. He was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Pennsylvania. He was ranked the 2nd best prospect in the state and 6th best nationally by Perfect Game. He chose to join LSU following his high school career.
Last season as a freshman with the Tigers, Kling played 57 games, slashing .289/.390/.522 (average, on base %, slugging). He drove in 9 RBI with 4 home runs and 5 doubles in 90 at bats.
As a sophomore, Kling struggled a bit, slashing .222/.409/.317 in 126 at bats. He hit just one home run and drove in 21 RBI for the Tigers in a year where he was expected to take a step forward offensively.
Kling decided in June of 2024 to transfer to Penn State to be closer to home. He will be a junior and hopes to figure out how to fix his offensive woes from this past season.
