Watts attended Little Elm High School in Texas. He was an impressive two way player in high school, recording 51 tackles with seven pass break-ups, two interceptions and one forced fumble, while catching 24 passes for 456 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior. He earned 4-star ratings from ESPN, rivals.com and 247 Sports. He chose Ohio State over a long list of power 5 offers.
As a true freshman, Watts played in 7 games, making 4 tackles. His snaps increased as a sophomore as he played in 12 games, making 6 tackles and 2 interceptions in his snaps off the bench.
Watts chose to transfer to Texas following the 2021 season. In the 2022 season, he started 13 games, recording 51 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack and 1 interception. He was an All-Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year Honorable Mention.
In his senior year in 2023, Watts played in 11 games with 10 starts at corner. He tallied 38 tackles, 1 TFL and 3 pass breakups. in his final season with the Longhorns.
