Jump attended JSerra Catholic High School in California. He had a great high school career and was ranked the number one left handed pitcher in the state, and the number five overall prospect in the state. He chose to join UCLA following his high school career.
As a freshman with UCLA, Jump made 7 appearances including 3 starts. He had a 3.86 ERA on the year with 22 strikeouts and 11 walks in 16.1 innings of work. He held opponents to a .172 batting average in the seven appearances before missing the end of the season with an injury.
Jump missed his entire sophomore season with Tommy John surgery, and chose to transfer to LSU for his third year.
This year is Jump's redshirt sophomore season and his first with the Tigers. He looks to return and pitch at the same level or even better than his freshman performance.
