Culpepper attended St. Benedict at Auburndale High School in Tennessee. In his senior season, he hit .394 with six home runs, 30 RBI and 13 stolen bases, earning a First Team All-State selection. He was ranked as the No. 2 shortstop and 21st player overall in the state of Tennessee by Perfect Game, and decided to join Kansas State following his high school career.
As a freshman with the Wildcats, Culpepper made 48 starts at third base, slashing .283/.356/.428 (average, on base %, slugging). He hit 5 home runs and 9 doubles, driving in 22 RBI on the year. He was named to the Big 12 All Freshman Team and was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
Last season as a sophomore, Culpepper showed vast improvement in his 40 starts at third base, with an impressive stat line of .325/.423/.576. He hit 10 home runs and 8 doubles, knocking in 41 RBI and blowing his freshman numbers out of the water. He received his second All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
This season is Culpepper's junior year with the Wildcats. He aims to keep up the success from last season and propel himself into the top 20 picks. He is in first round conversations as things stand currently, and will likely remain there if he continues to play well this year.
