DeBarge attended Barbe High School in Louisiana. He helped lead Barbe High to a 39-2 record as a senior, and was named the No. 7-ranked catcher and No. 44-ranked prospect in Louisiana by Perfect Game. He chose to join Louisiana following his high school career.
As a freshman, DeBarge was an immediate impact player. He started 60 games, slashing .293/.353/.397 (average, on base %, slugging). He drove in 30 RBI with 3 home runs and 13 doubles.
As a sophomore, DeBarge improved his offensive game drastically, slashing .371/.448/.546, while driving in 38 RBI. He hit 7 home runs and 15 doubles in 54 games. He was named to the All-Sun Belt Team for this performance.
This season is his junior year and DeBarge is expected to take another step forward.
