Yesavage attended Boyertown Area High School in Pennsylvania. As a senior, he held a 0.97 ERA and struck out 83 batters over 50.2 innings in his 10 games pitched. He was listed as the fifth-best right-hander and ninth overall prospect in Pennsylvania by Perfect Game, and chose to join East Carolina following his high school career.
Yesavage pitched out of the bullpen as a freshman, making 34 appearances on the year. He had a 4.50 ERA over 26.0 innings pitched, and collected 45 strikeouts and 19 walks. He also notched 2 saves on the year.
Yesavage became a starter in his sophomore year with the Pirates, making 16 appearances and 14 starts. He exceeded expectations, posting a 2.61 ERA and a 7-1 record on the mound with 105 strikeouts and 23 walks in 76.0 innings. He was the conference leader in opposing batting average with a .198 average, and earned All-American Athletic Conference First Team, and Baseball America, D1Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game Second Team All-America Selections.
This year is Yesavage's junior season with the Pirates, and he is off to a blazing start to the season.
